So I survived Christmas time yet again. Pretty slow overall which was nice but I still hate being sick. Now gotta worry about New Year's eve and then things will settle back down.

Complaint: I know Chicago is known as the "windy" city, but I think we beat them hands down. At least it's a chinook here with more cold weather due next week. Ugh.

New favorite song: Flo Rida - Right Round (Thanks to DJ Toxyk ) :o)

So my favorite NBA team is the Miami Heat. And there is a reason why I like one of their stars, Dwayne Wade. This is an article from a Miami paper.

MIAMI - When Dwyane Wade heard the plight of a South Florida woman whose nephew accidentally burned down her home - and ruined all the family's possessions - the Miami Heat star knew he had to do something.

So he replaced the house.

Wade presented Dawn Smith with the ultimate Christmas gift on Wednesday - the keys to a new home, along with some furnishings, clothing and gifts to make sure her family has a joyous holiday, something that didn't seem likely just a few weeks ago.

Just goes to show that there are some great athletes still left in this world who care more for others than themselves.
Merry Christmas !! Christmas eve went to my friend Gerry's place. Had a few rum and cokes and then got called into work. Seems there was some miscommunication between me and Chris from the Blarney Stone whether I was to work on not. So I left Gerry's to go to work. Truthfully, had they promoted the fact we were open, we might have been busier. But whatever. The whole 40 people I think enjoyed it and I even had some people dancing.

Today I'm going to mom's for a delicious dinner and to visit with my brother from Calgary. I think I'll go to Gerry's again tonight and have a few more rums. :) Got a stupid cold and figure that a beverage or two might help kill it.

I also sent out texts to people wishing them a merry Christmas. I had a few people text me back saying that they didn't know who it was from, which means I get to delete the older entries in my phone. Ah the wonderous age of text messaging.

So, I had an eye-opening experience the other day. Me and Opi were at Denny's after work on Sunday, and a native gentleman sitting behind us was busy doing a puzzle or something, quite absorbed in his task. We thought nothing of it. After about 15-20 minutes, he left. Again we thought nothing of the sort, as he was a customer leaving after this meal. When we left to pay our tab, we found out that he had paid for ours as well. A total stranger around Christmas time, paid for our food. Kind of gives you that warm fuzzy feeling that there might be SOME good left in this world. To the fine gentleman who went out of his way to do an act of kindness, I say Thank you and Merry Christmas.

It's weird. I like listening to non-traditional Christmas music around this time. I still enjoy the classics like White Christmas by Bing Crosby, Little Drummer Boy by David Bowie and Bing Crosby and even some classic Boney M Christmas stuff. However I really do enjoy the fact some artists create Christmas/Winter albums. One in particular is the new Enya album. A good album to curl up to and just listen and enjoy, and not have to worry about going outside. :)

Current favorite song: Enya - Trains and Winter Rains

Really starting to hate winter. Cold as heck and no signs of letting up. One more week of it and it's supposed to warm up by Christmas day.

Question: Why do people even have cell phones? I mean text messaging has pretty much taken over and people hardly even talk to other people anymore. If you wanna break up with your gf or bf, send em a text, right?

Well it's been a while, but a few things significant have happened. But before I get to these, got myself a space heater because I didn't wanna freeze my ass off like last year when I moved in here. (Note to Tara if you ever read this, fix your heat !!) The temperature dipped n the negatives again with a wind chill of -35 on Monday. Best investment EVER !!! The little unit puts out incredible heat and my room is a comfy 80 degrees F or whatever I choose it to be. Below is a picture of it. :) It's got temperature control, keeps the ambient temperature to whatever I'd like, a fan if it gets too hot, remote control, different power output (either 900W or 1200W). Yep, and only for $70 as well.

Now to the significant stuff. Suede is officially closed for business. 1 year and 3 months. Saturday the 13th of December was the last night. Makes me really sad but mostly mad. Too bad we didn't have responsible bar owners. Alas....

Monday was the Studio 54 Christmas Party. Had a lot of fun and experienced a side to Josh and Vince afterwards at their place in their drunken stupor. Hee Hee Hee. Blarney Stone on Wednesday was chaotic, as most students were done exams. Fantastic party atmosphere and me and Opi rocked to the extreme.

So I seem to have this weekend off now since Suede is closed. Not sure what I'm gonna do but just gonna chill I figure. Also on that note, I've had an offer to go work somewhere else already. Just when you try and get out, they pull you back in.

Complaint: Why do people drive like idiots around christmas and when there's snow on the ground?? I can't stand it. When I wave you to go because I'm feeling friendly, doesn't mean to just sit there and look at me like I'm an idiot. I'm being nice and courteous because I can be.

Praise: I really hate Christmas shopping by I must praise Wal-mart for being open 24 hours for the month of December. I'm gonna do my shopping at 4AM when I get off work because that's my usual hours of operation. And so many LESS people. Oh how I love the night time life!! :)

Well finally got the vehicle situation sorted out. It's not a brand new one but hey it runs and at a price of $600.00, it'll do. And the house thing might finally be sorted out too. Sort of looks like my roommate Tara isn't moving out East like before. We'll see what's up in a week or two about that. Old man winter is coming again, but this time it ain't gonna be pretty. Still sitting at about -3 ish or so but this weekend is supposed to dip to -27 and early next week, with the wind chill, gonna be about -32. BAH !!! I really do need to move somewhere like Australia where their winters are in the single digits ABOVE zero.

So how's this for unfortunate luck... Just when things seem to be going good for me, something happens and my luck turns around. I heard today from an inside source that Suede is closing the doors after New Years. Which means now I'll have to find another job to cover the $1200 I won't be getting anymore. I think it's time that I get out of the industry, and get another career and also focus on my business. No Fate But What We Make....

Monday. Ugh. Was SO sick. 24 hr. flu. When I awoke, there was even snow on the ground and finally winter had kicked in. Not overly cold mind you, about -8 or so. Was still feeling a bit ill from the the flu so I went to bed earlier. The week has been pretty much uneventful. Doing a Christmas party for Instaloans tonight which I hope goes well. Ok so winter has not officially arrived yet. I thought the snow and colder temperatures early in the week was the start. NOT !! It' windy today but about 8 C or so. It's December 6th. Incredible....

Not to self: It's time to stop relying on others. Get help sure if you need it, but otherwise run your own course.

Monday, December 1, 2008

Well, another weekend done and another begins. Was pretty relaxed though. Wednesday was busy at Blarney. Thursday I didn't work at Studio 54. Instead I was at Suede covering for Opi for Ladies Night, or more specifically the Canadian Playboyz male strippers. Now believe it or not, they put on quite a good show, but from my end of it, VERY high maintenance. Had to keep changing lights and color, play their dvd and audio tracks as well. And what did I get for my troubles? $20 bucks. You gotta be kidding me. Oh well.

Friday was another slow night from my perspective. Helix and Double Jack played. Talk about young meets old. I think Double Jack played for about an hour and a bit, and Helix played for about an hour. Gimme an R-O-C-K....

Saturday night I did a wedding out in Coalhurst for Shad. It was an emergency as Tommy from Sound Explosion cancelled. Surprise surprise. Anyways, I thought it went well for the amount of people there. I found out later that about half of them were of Mormon religion. So not a lot of partiers for sure.

Sunday at the Stone was average but still a weird crowd.

So, something struck my curiosity. Isn't the whole point of advertising, to get patrons to your establishment? So why would a local restaurant, put up advertising on a bus stop, 40 feet from their doors? I can just imagine someone reading it and saying, "Boy I'd like to go there for some food", looking up and then saying, "WOW, it's right here !!!" No s--t sherlock !!!

Was a busy weekend. Suede was ACTUALLY busy. Nice work Mike and I hope Lee appreciates the hard work you've put in. Monday, I checked out a bit of the D-12 concert at Suede. Although I never stuck around to see them OR Joe Budden, I had to leave because it was so high end loud. My ears were ringing when I left the place.

Ok complaint time. I know my credit isn't great but I can't borrow money if I tried. I have no problem with that. Here's the part that REALLY bothers me. One of my financial advisers told me that if you go to different dealerships for example and they all pull your credit file, that it can actually hurt your credit score. So how am I supposed to know if I can qualify for auto financing if they don't pull your credit rating, and WHY in God's great name, should it affect your credit score?? It's stupid things like that that are ruining our economy. A local alderman I believe is hoping to get a bill passed that would allow people who are renting only, to eventually rent-to-buy so to speak. People who rent cannot usually afford to save up because rent is so jacked up, and rent is all they can afford. PLEASE make this happen. :) Come on give the 'little' person a break.

Oh!!! New favorite song and thanks to DJ Toxyk for the head's up on it:

Chris Cornell - Scream

Oh my word, it's phenomenal. A lot like Apologize but....BETTER !!

Wonder and Amazement

Ok so I must be a glutton for punishment. Played in goal again this Wednesday at floor hockey. Oh well it felt good. :)

Something to ponder. If you are about 30 years old or so, then you have had the opportunity to be part of absolute wonder and amazement. I'll start off in the sporting world. During my lifetime I've seen some of the greatest players of the game play. Gretzky, Lemieux, Ovechkin, Lafleur, Brodeur, Roy and Scotty Bowman, just to name a few for hockey. Cal Ripken Jr. , Tony Gwynn, Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds (although I hate the guy's attitude) in baseball. Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Dale Earnheart and other greats in auto racing. Maradona, and other greats in soccer. I've seen many CFL and NFL records fall as well. The Olympics with Michael Phelps, and others, setting records like they were nothing at all. And that's just the sporting world.

Musically speaking, artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, U2 continue to be huge acts and have made a plethora of money. New artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent and T.I. recently come to be but have made their mark as well.

We've seen record breaking box office movies, such as Titanic, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Lord of the Rings (trilogy), Pirates of the Caribbean and Dark Knight.

We've made technological leaps and bounds to make our lives easier such as computers, cell phones, microwave ovens, from satellite dishes, flat-screen tvs, dvd players and the internet to entertain us better. We've made great advances in medicine as well.

We've put a man on the moon, torn down the Berlin wall, saw the fall of the Soviet Empire and that of Saddam Hussein. We've seen great tragedies such as the 9-11 trade tower destructions, the great Tsunami, the flooding of New Orleans and the Aids epidemic. Most recently we have been witness to a black president of the U.S. being voted in for the first time.

I could go on and on. Why has this suddenly got my attention? Not sure really. But maybe I'm wondering what the world holds for me, us, everyone in the next 30 years. Maybe it's my way of growing up and getting older. I look forward to the next 30 years. It's gonna be a wild ride but should be a lot of fun.

Monday. My only day off this week. I start working at Studio 54 on Tuesdays. Good idea? We'll see. The extra money will be good, but will I get burnt out?

So I went to Lady Gaga at Suede tonight. Ok, mini backtrack. Went to O-Sho's with DJ Cookie tonight. Had a wonderful time. At Suede for the concert and Kelliane opened for her. I guess she owed Lee for a show. Not bad. They REALLY need to tone down on the drums and such and make her vocals good. But as for openings acts go, she did alright. Got the crowd energized. She played lots of Top 40 stuff, like Pink - So What, Britney Spears - Womanizer, Christina Aguilera - Keeps Getting Better, Pussycat Dolls - When I grow Up and Shut Up and Drive, but the song that most impressed me was Coldplay's Viva La Vida. A very hard song to cover but she pulled it off.

There was an hour or so break between her and Lady Gaga. Place is packed. Finally Lady Gaga goes on. Well, she performs her famous tracks, Just Dance, Starstruck, Poker Face and did Paparazzi, Dirty Filthy Rich, and another song, advertises that her cd is in stores and then leaves the stage. Ok at this point, I'm thinking that it's just a ploy to get some more cheer, or maybe a costume change. A few minutes go by and people are chanting her name. Well she's not coming back out. 6 songs?? Are you kidding me? At least come out and do one of the singles again. I felt so sorry for the mc, who had to get on stage and tell everyone, bluntly, that the show was over. $25 for a ticket and only 6 songs. Severely disappointing. For what it's worth, the show was highly entertaining. She launched herself into the crowd not once but twice. And her singing was spot on. But holy disappointing. At least Opi kept people there by playing good tunes afterwards. Lee, if you ever read this, I give it a 5 out of 10. Good artist, horrible finish.

Still one of my favorite tracks: Lady Gaga - Poker Face

So as per usual I'm a few days late blogging. Hey, at least I am though. :)

Wednesday I played floor hockey, but I played in goal. It was my first time in about 15 years or so as I have always played as a forward. I have a new found appreciation for that position as I've been in pain since. My quads hurt SO SO much. But it was good and might do it again next week. :) Also I won all 3 of my games and made a terrific glove save too.

Blarney Stone was SO busy and a tremendous energy in the crowd. They just wanted to dance and dance they did. Big chick fight on the top part of the dance floor but the crowd still had fun.

Studio 54 was also busy with great energy. Toxyk rocked the house and kept the floor busy from 10 PM til 2 AM. Nice work.

Tonight (Friday) was Mo's birthday. He's a guy from Nigeria and we had his birthday party in at Suede. K gave me some good Nigerian songs to play specifically for this day and they did not disappoint. They and myself had a great time, and they danced up a storm and sang to all the tunes I played for them.

Complaint section now. For the 2nd straight UFC pay-per-view, we will not be showing it at Suede. I don't understand why we won't. Some things are difficult to comprehend I guess. I think that we should and get at least a good base crowd, to carry over into Saturday night.

That's it from this dj.

Remembrance Day. I remember not so much the fallen soldiers, but my dad. I miss you so.

So I missed Finger Eleven tonight. Not my favorite band at all. And thanks to DJ Toxyk for calling me during One Thing. I loathe that song. On the flip side tonight, shot a 36 in pool league. Staying consistent at least.

This weather is unbelievable. It's the 11th of November and it's still beautiful outside. Supposed to hit +15 later this week. O.o It's the 11th of November Mother Nature !!!! I figured the seasons have shifted a bit. Which means snow in Spring !! Sheesh..... I should go live in Australia. They're almost in summer right now, and usually averages about +45 or so at that time.

Ok so now I'm complaining again.....

Now, I need to get this out so maybe I can read it and make sense of it at a later date. There are a few girls that I like. One that lives overseas, a couple that live in town. Yet none of them wanna take the time and effort to see what I'm about. Why is that?? I THINK I'm a nice guy. Sorry I KNOW I'm a nice guy. I treat women well and with respect. Is it the sexual aspect? There has to be a certain chemistry or spark for sure, if it's to work. I know one of them is not frightened by my looks. She actually thinks I'm sexy. LOL. Is it my age? I believe one of the girls would like me more if there wasn't such an age difference. Is it my financial position? If that's what it is then they can kiss my ass! Shallow biotches. I don't know. Not saying I need a girlfriend, but come on. I see worse off jerks, get some very attractive girls to be their girlfriends. They treat them like trash and mentally abuse them. Yet when those girls FINALLY get wise to get dump the guy, they hook up with yet another. I cannot comprehend the situation. Oh well. When I turn things around, then they will ALL be missing out. For those girls that were interested in me, but didn't make your move, you lose.
Ok supplemental post. Why do I drink that swill called Tim Horton's coffee?? No matter how I drink it, with extra sugar, or extra cream, it STILL tastes awful. Plus the fact it gives me nasty heartburn. How can some people that I know, drink 4-5 cups of this stuff a day ?!?!
Ok so I am back now, as this is the confirmation of that. First order of business, bitch and complain. :)

Why is it that people who think they know what they are doing, do things, instead of leaving it to someone or in the least, confer with someone, who has a much better idea of what to do in the same situation? Grrrr.....

Ok that's out of the way. Should be busy on Sunday for the sort of long weekend. Gotta look into getting a new vehicle and a place to live ASAP. Cannot procrastinate on these things.

New favorite song, at least in my playlist:

Timbaland - Talk That Shit (ft. Missy Elliot & T-Pain)

Back after 4 years of absence...

Well, I be back. At least I think I am. 4 years. That's an awfully long time. What to comment on. Actually will comment tomorrow. It's almost 7 AM and I have a busy day tomorrow.
