Well I had my eye exam. Surprise surprise, my prescription hardly changed at all. And my eyes are healthy. I did not get my new glasses, but got a quote on them instead. $346.00 would be for my new specs. Gah. There has to be a cheaper place. I know you can't put a price on your eyes and such but come on. I just want new frames. I can see perfectly well with my old ones.

So tomorrow is April Fool's day, and the big virus is supposed to kick in that day. Let's just hope I got rid of it on my computer.
So I accidentally broke my glasses on Sunday when I was wiping the lens. The frame, which is plastic, came out of the arm and the lens popped right out. I got them temporarily fixed on Monday. But they can't give me a new pair without a new subscription. So I set up an appointment for Tuesday to get my eyes checked and should have them then as well. Grrr. I'm not impressed.

I didn't go out at all today, which was ok. Essies will still be there next time, unless a fire burns it down. Let's hope that it doesn't happen. (knocks on wood)

So the staff meeting went ok. But he's bringing in 2 guest djs on nights that I normally would work. I'm not to impressed. Must have a talk with them there.

Saturday after work, which was very slow, I passed a guy by my house. He was dressed all in camo clothes, and wore dark shoes, but he looked a bit mentally challenged. Weird freakin people.

Sunday night was ok. Strange requests but different which was good.

My day off on Monday but I have a lot planned. Let's hope all goes good.

One quick note. We also have a staff meeting at Blarney, more than likely to announce the departure of Dan and the introduction of Chris as owner of the Blarney Stone. My guess is that it won't be a positive one and Chris will try and impose his rule as owner. We'll see....
Blarney wasn't crazy busy like it usually was on Wednesday but it was still ok. I'm still sick but have really caught up on sleep in the last few days. The weather has been weird as well, snow one day, warm the next. I think the worst is behind us.

Dream sequence: Usually I can't remember these past when I wake up but I remember a bit more of this one. Was in a small town in the States. Just an average size town maybe a couple hundred or so. But there was something odd about it, like they were covering up a secret. Never really found out what it was. But then it shifted to my family, where my mom insisted that we go looking for gold nuggets. I told her that I had gotten a map to secret buried treasure but she thought that I was making up a story. Not much more to it than that. I always have bizarre dreams when I'm sick. And this really was no exception.

Sunday was very slow at Blarney. Some of the Kin games people came in and Nathan Salmon's provincial championship Broomball team, also helped salvage the night. Without these two groups, we would've been a whole lot deader. Monday I did nothing. A bit of running around but overall just sat back and waited as this cold is kicking my ass now. I took a neo citran and I'm heading to bed. Let's hope I feel better tomorrow for it is our first round of playoffs in pool league.

Thursday at Studio 54 was busy, slow start but was stupid in there. Had a big ass fight in the back by the Glacier bar. I guess it was a bunch of Calgary boys. Oh well....

Friday at Scores was really quiet and I should've taken it off from there to work at Studio. The Kin games were there and it was stupid busy. Alas not much fun for me that day. And Saturday night was again a very slow start but got really busy as it was Trollsfest and then a bunch of Kin gamers came in later on. It was the night that wouldn't end. I'm so tired from it but I guess I'll recover.

Wednesday was the post St. Patrick's Day party, and as expected Blarney Stone was pretty quiet. I thought it might be a bit busier than it was but oh well. Met 2 really cute girls there. One of them looked like Mariah Carey, so I had to tell her that. :) Otherwise it was quite the uneventful night.

Tuesday was St. Patrick's day. A great day to have a drink and to try and figure out your existence. Had pool league at Original Joe's and played very well against the number 4 team in the league. We won 3 of 5 rounds which was quite impressive. Worked at Studio 54 and it was quiet. Heard Blarney Stone was packed. Alas, they decided to go with the Chevelles instead.

I really should right down dreams when I have them. All I know it was a great dream but I can't remember any of it right now. Grrr.....

Wednesday and Thursday were stupidly busy. Good party going on. Not much more to say about that than that. Friday at Scores was ok too, not really busy but I had a lot of fun. Saturday at Studio we continued the Beach Bash weekend, and had our wet T-shirt contest. Was supposed to have 9 contestants, but of course some didn't participate. So we ended up with 4 really and I knew 3 of them. Anyways, most people will think it's degrading but we're not forcing them to do it, and they did ok. Some got a bit topless at the end but hey, they were practically there before with the wet t-shirts. Anyways, had a lot of fun. Trollfest next weekend so it should be a good time as well.

Coment: Why are most of the good ones taken? It's not even that. I hate when they are taken (either married or bf/gf of a long time) and then you hear that back in the day, all they wanted to do is have fun. Grrrr..... why didn't you tell me this back then or earlier??

Had pool league tonight out in Coaldale. Never played at McLennan's before and it's a pretty cool place. Shot fairly well and won 3 of my games. But it was quite the night. Trevor locked his keys in his car, so in between playing he tried to get the m out. Well, it was bitterly cold out, hovering around -25 or so. Needless to say, he got them out at the end of our pool playing, then he couldn't start it. so we had to get a boost. I was supposed to work tonight but it was too cold and by the time I would've got to work, it was already pretty late. Plus the fact I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't come out. I'm gonna stay home and relax.
Had my first wedding of the season on Saturday. Was a polish friend of mine, Helena Krysa, as she was known as by her maiden name; Eremenko now. Not a typical wedding but more of a reception than anything. Had a slide show and their dances and then the food was served. So in some ways it was almost backwards. Either way, if went really good. People danced and had a great time. When I finished there was a massive snow storm and the temperature dropped to -25 or so with the wind chill being close to -30 or so. BRRRR.

Sunday at Blarney was actually pretty good. Not like it used to be, but ok. Enjoyed my day off today. Stayed up late, and slept all day ! Will sleep in again tomorrow :P

Ok complaint time. It's, oh what, March 6th, and I passed a house that STILL has christmas decorations up. And I'm not talking the basic ones like the icicle lights dangling or the wreath on the door. I'm talking the animal shape ones that light up and pictures of Santa Claus. Come on people....

I'm going to make a conscience effort to wave or say hi to at least one person a day. I'm tired of all this negativity in the world. Sure people are fickle but at least we can say hi to each other.

Friday, March 6, 2009

Ok so I'm a few days behind. I've been so damn tired. Not sure really why? It's not like I've been boozing it up, or staying up til 7:00 am or something. I think I really should go to the doctor's soon. Wednesday at Blarney was chaotically busy. No real problems though and we got a bit of a rush late after the Naughty by Nature concert, which was a total flop from what I heard. Maybe 50 people..... Are you kidding me? Typical Booda promotion. And we have another one coming at the Blarney Stone. March 28th, Swollen Members is playing there. Ugh.... Actually that's a group I really don't mind but come on guys, what are you thinking. And to charge $20 for tickets in advance and $30 at the door, is too steep, at least that's what I think. They haven't had any new music since 1996 although they have album due in September of this year. Booda if by some freak reason or coincidence you read this, please stop. You tried Method Man and Redman and D-12, which got about 200-250 people, you tried this year for Kardinal Offishall at Roadhouse which yielded about the same of about 250 people. You then tried Naughty by Nature and got about 50 peeps. Either get someone else to promote or get off your ass and do it better. Better yet, just stop all together. I do respect the fact you are trying to bring in some decent hip-hop acts but the time has come for you to step away.

Anyways, that was my rant. Studio was busy last night and Josh kept the floor solid all night. Working at Scores tonight then my first wedding of the season tomorrow. I can't wait for this weekend to be over. :o)

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Work at Studio 54 was deathly slow. However me and Josh played and talked music for the better part of the evening, which was great. Played a lot of great retro tunes especially the rock songs of the 80's.

Got home and came across a horror. My computer was acting severely FUBAR-ed. Well I was not intent on letting this happen and for the 2nd time ever in the history of me owning a computer, removed a virus. It was a 'recycler' virus where I had NO sound, and couldn't access any of my drives. What a piss off. So I researched it on the internet, grabbed the necessary programs I needed to take care of the problem, and fixed er up! Everything seems to be back to normal and I saved a restore point which hopefully works. I believe it was from the movie Coraline that I downloaded and tried to watch but something fishy was up when I had to download a licence. That's the only thing I did differently. Either way I feel great about my accomplishment and am off to bed in about 11 min.

One last thing. There still has been NO trades in the NHL. Avery re-signed with the Rangers and Backstrom signed an extension with Min. Grrr. Which means it'll all explode tomorrow. Go Habs go !!!

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Went to Essie's last night. Funny thing is I didn't feel the vibe at all. Had a coffee with about 3 oz of Kahlua in it, then added ice. I guess the good thing is that I'm drinking less. Had one shot on Sunday and 1 shot and 1 drink on Saturday. Why does everyone assume that because I work in the industry, I have to drink. I drank for 15 freakin years. Practically every day. Anyways I went home because it was my day off and I'm gonna soak up the day off. :)

Monday, March 2, 2009

Worked at Studio 54 on Saturday for Mardi-gras. Well it was actually busy AND fun. :) Even got to see some boobies so it wasn't all bad. No fights and just a good atmosphere. Our Saturdays there have really been picking up. But Sunday night at the Blarney Stone was horrible. Super slow. Now not sure if it's because people had exams and such the upcoming week, but wow. And the native population has really gone up as well. Now I have nothing against natives, but these were the kind that are usually looking for fights and such. Chris wants to change 'industry' night to 'ladies' night on Sunday. 'Industry ladies' night is much better. but offering $5 vodka/red bulls is not my idea of a special. Like Opi said, when it used to be great in there for industry night, 'industry' would mean cheap drinks to those that worked in it. Now I'm not saying, godown to $2 drinks, which you can't anymore, but drop it to the lowest possible of $2.75. At least until it gets going again. We're not in Calgary, or Kansas for that matter, we're in Lethbridge where people like their alcohol.... CHEAP !!

Completely off topic, the NHL trade deadline is on Wednesday of this week. And no major trades have been done....yet. Sure there was the habs picking up Schneider and the Pens trading Kunitz for Whitney, but that's been about it. And it's Monday afternoon. We're in for a frenzy now for sure.
